Whether they’re pioneering the latest mobile technology or counseling hospital patients, our alumni have devoted themselves to changing lives for the better.

In this issue of the Georgia State Magazine, read about Christian Zimmerman (B.B.A. ’15), who co-founded a company that helps clients overcome burdensome debt, and Jason Lesandrini (M.A. ’06), who guides hospital patients and their families through some of the toughest decisions of their lives. You can also find out how Sun Belt Conference cross-country champ Lotte Meyberg, a native of Germany and a President's List scholar, has learned to pivot on and off the trail in pursuit of her degree. Check out these stories and more in our digital-only winter issue.

And what about you? Got a promotion? A new addition to the family? We want to hear what you’re up to! Post your good news and read about your fellow alumni here in our Class Notes.

A Georgia State grad and his business partner are proving small change can make a big difference in combatting crushing debt. Since founding Qoins in early 2017, Christian Zimmerman (B.B.A. ’15) and Nate Washington, a former Georgia State student, have helped more than 62,000 people pay off nearly $10 million in loans with an app that rounds up debit card purchases to the next dollar and directs the difference to creditors.

Find out how the pair bonded over solving debt problems they both faced and stayed the course in the midst of a health scare that could have derailed the company before it got started.

If the patient is being treated in the WellStar Health System, that’s when Jason Lesandrini (M.A. ’06) and his staff get a call. With more than a decade of work in the field of healthcare ethics, Lesandrini is the assistant vice president of ethics, advanced care planning and spiritual health at WellStar and leads a team of five full-time ethicists. They help patients and families make the best decisions they can in morally fraught situations.
